I started to look a potential Interior partner just after went home studying on my college period from Japan, the first thing I noticed, I have to know and finding a local partner, I introduced to one guy, a local interior Designer that have been recommended by a friend before, to decorate my own apartement in Jakarta area. I use my own bought apartement as a test. There is alot to learn for newbie like me, moreover this is a business not just we study at college that only about theory and more over I think I need the on field experience to able to success. Being able to study Product Design at Japan makes me understand some of keypoint of making approces to potential client, have a brainstroming meeting and several related aspect that an Interior Designer must provide to client. Because a  lack of self confident and some other reasons, I tried to make an approach to this local designer, so we can start collaboration, for I handle more of marketing area of Interior Bussines and he handle more on creating idea and handle production. In this periode , event though my apartement interior beautifully decorated, having a newbie as partner might be not in his mind, the deal went off event before it started.

I started to move on the next day to finding the right people that take me as a partner and have a win win solution for both of us; For promotion I started to strive introducing my self, my skill and widen my networking to provide a solution for someone else. I know the process would not be easy and more over, plenty of obstacle along the way.

Now, VDI have gained some trust and have several repeat order from our clients, some recomendation from satisfied clients, and collecting some portofolios trough out the industries, Basically most of our client if individual that have a new home , an apartement or ground houses that need custom furniture like kitchen set , bed set and shelf,

 

Most of my bussiness skills is gained by experiences in the field and common sences, Some other trough youtube and networking with friends. I have implement  some of 5S principal in my marketing plan, meeting sheets, production line and after sales. But honestly I think it need more improvement in many areas. Problem identifiaction not done regurarly, just by the time of problem appears.

Early 2016 is might be the real downhill for VDI after one of my partner decide to quit from the bussiness and decide to create his own. We are in middle 2 big and major project back then, and it was very horrifying moment to be honest, since cashflow become unstable and most of it, some handyman went off too.

These might be also the year of luck for VDI since  with leftover team we decide to identifying problems, the one as small as communication with client, key question and certain aspect that must be filled during first meeting until reviewing supplier and make database of realible vendor.

We have not manage time to make KPI, Production Workshop Arrangement and layouting that trully base on 5S and also have a standard SOP that related for HRD, Profit Projection and also  any Machinery investment that surely worth and guaranteed a sustanable growth in our business.
